 Lessons Tailored for All Needs

Lessons

Whether you have been playing for years or if you have never touched an instrument before, I am happy to work with you to develop your musical skill set and take it as far as you wish to go.
Offering lessons for Guitar, Bass and Ukulele, as well as providing a strong foundation of music theory, each lesson will be tailored and prepared with your musical
interests and goals at the forefront, providing each individual with lessons planned with only them in mind.

During your lessons, we can focus on what ever you want, whether it be:
Learning songs by your favourite artists, developing your understanding of music theory, building and developing effective practice routines or improvement of your playing for music exams, band performances as well as college or university auditions.

We offer both half hour lessons for £17 as well as full hour lessons for £34.
For this, not only do you get a one on one lesson, you also get access to our Student Portal, where you have access to notes to work from after each and every lesson, digital access to all of your learning resources and other helpful learning tools.

Skype Sundays

If in person lessons don't sound like the right fit for you, whether it be down to a busy schedule or traveling distance, then I have good news! Since March of 2020, the world hasn't been quite the same. Amongst all of the chaos, I wanted to ensure that my students were still able to attend their lessons in some capacity and allowing them the chance to continue to grow and develop as musicians.

Now that in person lessons have returned, some students still wanted to continue online lessons as this is what suited them best, which is why I set up Skype Sundays, so that anyone interested in learning online can do so!

Every Skype student still gets the same level of dedicated attention and education all from the comfort of their own homes, as well as also having access to the Student Portal. I have worked hard to ensure that these lessons feel as much like any other lesson as possible, just with a wider distance!

Rock Band Club

To give my students as much of a strong start in the music industry as possible, I started the Rock Band Club. In this club, students of mine who are interested in playing in bands will be put in to groups of like minded students with similar music tastes to form what for many of them, will be their first band!

In this club I will coach and guide them as a band, helping them put together a live set, write their own songs, get promotional assets such as band photos and a logo created and get their first gig under their belt so by the end of the project, they have everything they need to take the band where ever they want on their own!

The Blues Circle

The Blues Circle was a weekly group that is focused on learning to play with other musicians, improvisation and learning blues standards and songs!

The group was called The Blues Circle because, as you might expect, we will sat in a circle, and as myself and the rest of the group play an accompaniment, each member of the group had a chance to improvise a guitar solo.

Outside of this aspect, I taught everyone different techniques to help them improvise and develop their improvisation skills more and more!

Sadly The Blues Circle has now come to an end but it was a lot of fun while it lasted!

Songwriting & Recording Sessions

Alongside an abundance of learning resources, personalised lesson plans and group activities, I am always striving to provide other opportunities for my students.

One of the first extra activities I ever began providing for my students  were songwriting and recording experiences! Whether it be writing and recording an original song or a recording of a cover song you have been working hard on, I am more than happy to provide a recording session within your lesson that you can have to share and look back upon.

Y Music Project

As you may have seen on the about page, I run the Y Music Project, a community based project based at the YMCA in Glenrothes, Fife. Thanks to funding from sources such as Creative Scotland and Fife Council, the Y Music Project provides free music tuition, from myself and several other talented tutors as well putting on social events, workshops and providing free rehearsal space for both bands and solo artists.

This project has been set up in particular for young and budding musicians in the Glenrothes area, so if you are under in your early twenties or under and this sounds like a great time for you, you are more than welcome!

The Y Music Project takes place on Wednesdays from 6:00pm - 8:00pm for tuition and 8:00pm - 10:00pm for band rehearsal.
